Membership Classification

The membership shall be classified by the Board of Directors according to the division or divisions of the industry. Only members classified in a division or divisions shall be entitled to vote or participate in activities of that division or divisions.

(A) The division of the industry shall be considered as Conferences consisting of the following:

  1. ALLIED INDUSTRIES CONFERENCE. This group shall consist of any reputable person, firm, co-partnership or corporation which is directly or indirectly interested in highway transportation and is in accord with the purpose of the Association and desires to assist in furthering its activities.
  2. GENERAL COMMODITIES CARRIERS CONFERENCE. This group shall consist of motor carriers of general commodities.
  3. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS CARRIERS CONFERENCE. This group shall consist of motor carriers of hazardous materials or substances.
  4. HEAVY SPECIALIZED CARRIERS CONFERENCE. This group shall consist of motor carriers of general oilfield equipment, commodities, supplies, heavy oversize loads, hot shot services, cranes, and special permit loads, etc.
  5. PRIVATE CARRIERS CONFERENCE. This group shall consist of industrial, commercial, and agricultural interests who own and operate vehicles for transporting property in connection with their own business.
  6. SPECIALIZED SERVICE CARRIERS CONFERENCE. This group shall consist of household goods carriers, tow truck operators, refuse carriers, mobile/modular home transporters, etc.
  7. BULK COMMODITIES CARRIERS CONFERENCE. This group shall consist of motor carriers of liquid or dry bulk commodities in tank or hopper type vehicles.
  8. OWNER-OPERATOR AND LEASED OPERATORS CONFERENCE. This group shall consist of individuals operating as independent owner operators or under a valid lease to a WTA member company.
